Joint Pain

How Is Joint Pain Treated?

The treatment for joint pain begins with a movement assessment to identify which areas of the body above and below the painful joint may be causing the pain.

Often times, there is tightness, weakness, or stiffness in the areas above and below the painful area which leads to the problem.

The painful area is rarely the cause of the problem, rather a symptom of issues elsewhere.

1) By utilizing hands-on techniques such as joint mobilization (gentle movement within the joint), soft tissue treatment, or dry needling this begins the process of decreasing pain.

2) Once the pain is improving, this provides an opportunity to improve the nearby areas of weakness, tightness, or stiffness from the initial movement assessment.

This second part is what prevents the injury from returning and truly fixes the issue at the source of the problem.
